The committee is charged with oversight of the United States Intelligence Community, which includes the intelligence and intelligence-related activities of the CIA, NSA, and more than a dozen other elements of the U.S. Government, as well as the Military Intelligence Program.
“I am proud of Kansas’ role, from at least the days of General Eisenhower, in protecting our great nation," said Pompeo. "And I am glad it has been recognized again by the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. I plan to rely on my military and private-sector experience to ensure the best outcomes possible for our intelligence apparatus."
Speaker John Boehner said he's proud to welcome Pompeo to the committee.
"I have no doubt that his strong conservative principles and military background will be a major asset to our national security," said Pompeo.
Pompeo currently serves Kansas' 4th Congressional District.
