Races Set In Wichita City, School Board Elections

Local races are set for Sedgwick County’s municipal and school elections.

Three seats on the Wichita City Council and four seats on the Wichita school board are up for election this fall. Several cities around the county will elect new mayors. You can find a full list of candidates running for office here.

The primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 3; the last day to register to vote in the primary is July 13.

Here are some of the major races that will be on the ballot this year (races with fewer than four candidates will not have primaries and will be decided during the general election on Nov. 2):

Wichita City Council

In District 1, incumbent Brandon Johnson is running for a second term against Myron Ackerman.

In District 3, incumbent Jared Cerullo is running for the seat he has held since March, when he was appointed by the city council to replace former council member James Clendenin. The candidates running in District 3 are:

In District 6, incumbent Cindy Claycomb is seeking a second term representing Riverside, Delano and parts of downtown. The candidates running are:

Wichita School Board

  District 1
