“When I used to live in Texas, I was in choir class. I didn’t like the music that they had. So I said, ‘I’m going to write my own music to make up for the fact that I don’t like [that other music]. That’s when I started, in eighth grade.
“I can remember the songs and how they were so terrible, they were real cheesy. Now, I feel [that my songs] are more mature. They have more points. I talk about my experiences with people and how I feel about certain things. Certain situations I’ve been in.
“I have no problem being in front of people and performing. For some reason I have a harder time when I’m rehearsing. I will miss notes but as soon as I get up and perform in front of people, I don’t feel like I miss [notes] at all. In fact, I feel like a different person.”
