A conversation with Charles Finch about his work as an author and a critic.

As an author, Charles Finch has made a name for himself with the Charles Lenox mystery series, publishing a book each year since the series was launched in 2007, including the most recent--The Woman in the Water--which was published in February. But he’s also made a name for himself as a book critic, with reviews published in the New York Times, The Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, The Guardian, USA Today, Slate, The New Yorker online, and many more. Earlier this year he was awarded the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing for the 2017 National Book Critics Circle Awards.

Charles joined me at the KMUW Studios earlier this week to discuss the balancing act between author and critic. Here’s our conversation:
