Marginalia: Brad Meltzer On Real Heroes

(c) Think Moncur 2017

If you've been listening to Marginalia for a while, you've probably heard my next guest before.

I spoke with Brad Meltzer in March 2018 about his thriller, The Escape Artist, and again in January about his history book, The First Conspiracy. This time our visit was about books for kids.

"Ordinary People Change the World" is a series which provides a historical biography about some amazing individuals Meltzer believes kids should aspire to be. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Amelia Earhart. Actual heroes. Meltzer and illustrator Christopher Eliopoulos have just released numbers 18 and 19 in the series: I Am Marie Curie and I Am Walt Disney.

I spoke with Meltzer about these books, about the series, and about a new TV show for kids he created for PBS. Here's our conversation:

I Am Marie Curie and I Am Walt Disney by Brad Meltzer and illustrated by Christopher Eliopoulos was published by Dial Books for Young Readers.
