We’ll also hear music from March featured artist Tommy Flanagan as a leader and with Kenny Burrell; a new album from Lafayette Harris, Jr. done with Flanagan’s rhythm section; guitarist Ralph Towner (another March featured artist) with Oregon; and the latest albums from Poncho Sanchez, Chick Corea and Lolly Allen.

Night Train marks birthdays of pianist Steve Kuhn, oboist Paul McCandless (part of the group Oregon, with March featured artist Ralph Towner), trombonist and Sesame Street arranger Joe Fiedler, and pianist Renee Rosnes (featured in hour two in a Savannah Music Festival special with pianist Bill Charlap). Plus new music from the Bill Cunliffe Trio, Carla Bley and Andrea Brachfeld.

Night Train marks birthdays of pianist Makoto Ozone, drummer Paul Motian (featured as part of the Bill Evans Trio), and Preservation Hall star Sweet Emma Barrett (heard in a rare concert performance in a New Jazz Special in hour two of the show). We’ll also hear Chanda Rule & the Sweet Emma Band and a song written for Sweet Emma, as well as new music from Kat Edmonson and Roberto Fonseca, and March featured artist Ralph Towner with Oregon.
Thursday, March 26
Night Train marks birthdays saxophonists Lew Tabackin and James Moody (including a special in hour two from Jazz at Lincoln Center that marked Moody’s 75th birthday). We’ll also hear music from March featured artist Ralph Towner, and new releases from Adrian Cunningham (doing the music of Lerner & Lowe, and Kansas City’s Guitar Elation.
