Ghosts, Sunsets And Songs For Slim

Thursday, August 9

Among The Ghosts is the new release from Memphis, Tennessee band Lucero. The record, which has been described as filled with “soulful rock and ragged country” is the band’s ninth. We’ll hear selections from it as well as music from the Grateful Dead’s Anthem of the Sun.

Friday, August 10

To The Sunset is the new release from singer-songwriter Amanda Shires. Featuring songs about working class families and matters of the heart. It also features contributions from Shires’ huband, Jason Isbell. We’ll hear selections from To The Sunset as well as Isbell’s Sirens of the Ditch.

Saturday, August 11

Live In Vienna captures legendary progressive rock band King Crimson live in concert in December 2016. Listen for music from that release as well as Daryl Hall’s Sacred Songs featuring contributions from Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp.

Monday, August 13

Dreamland, released in 2002, was Robert Plant’s seventh album and first after nearly a decade break from recording as a solo act. The covers-intensive record features songs originally recorded by Tim Buckley, Moby Grape and others. We’ll hear selections from that release as well as from Tim Buckley’s 1966 self-titled debut.

Tuesday, August 14

We celebrate the 67th birthday of former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap with selections from his work as a solo artist, as a member of The Replacements and with artists such as Curtiss A. Plus music from Hank Williams, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and more.

Jedd Beaudoin is host/producer of the nationally syndicated program Strange Currency. He has also served as an arts reporter, a producer of A Musical Life and a founding member of the KMUW Movie Club. As a music journalist, his work has appeared in Pop Matters, Vox, No Depression and Keyboard Magazine.
