Throughout 2017, Global Village celebrates its 10th anniversary (the show debuted on January 8, 2007) with a variety of specials and features, starting this month not only with the Best of 2016, but a look back at the Top 10 from the first ten years of the show. This time it’s the Best of 2013. Among the highlights – two powerhouse Italian neo-folk acts (Riccardo Tesi and Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino), two fascinating projects featuring the Garifuna Collective, and lots of great music from Africa, including Kenyan and Ghanian compilations and releases from Tuareg band Tamikrest and the father of Ethio-jazz, Mulatu Astatke.
