Boz Scaggs, Eddie Hinton, Leon Redbone & Fenton Robinson

June 14/16

Crossroads kicks off the June feature marking the 75th birthdays of both Boz Scaggs and Eddie Hinton. We’ll hear music from some of Hinton’s rare recordings and a tribute to him from Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers.

We’ll also hear Hinton as part of the lineup on Boz Scaggs’ breakthrough self-titled  second album and hear Boz with Booker T & the MGs, in both cases doing songs associated with blues great Fenton Robinson – and the show will also dip into the Robinson catalog for a couple of classic tracks from him as well.

Crossroads remembers Leon Redbone, who passed away at the end of last month, with some of the bluesy things he recorded.

And there are a few more of this year’s Blues Music Award winners featured, along with new music from Rick Vito, Brandon Isaak, the Lee Boys, John Mayall, and Big Joe & the Dynaflows.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
