Monday, February 17

New Store No.2 is the latest album from singer-songwriter Chris Maxwell. The title cut is inspired by his late grandfather, who emigrated from Beirut, Lebanon and opened a store in a small Arkansas town. Maxwell has composed music for a variety of television shows, including Bob’s Burgers and Inside Amy Schumer. We’ll hear selections from New Store No.2 as well as songs from the latest by Tami Neilson, Chickaboom!

Tuesday, February 18

San Diego musician Mike Keneally’s first major gig was playing guitar and keyboards in Frank Zappa’s 1988 touring band. In the years following, the Long Island native has recorded a variety of albums under his own name, including 2001’s acoustic-driven Wooden Smoke. We’ll hear selections from that recording on this episode as well as songs from Joni Mitchell’s For The Roses.

Wednesday, February 19

Randall Bramblett has built a career as both a solo artist and sideman, amassing hours with Bonnie Raitt, Traffic and Gregg Allman. In 2010, he issued the somber, jazz-inflected album The Meantime. The record has just been reissued in expanded form. We’ll hear selections from that as well as from Jon Regen’s 2019 set Higher Ground.

Thursday, February 20

We’ll celebrate the birthday of J. Geils of the J. Geils Band, who passed in 2017 at the age of 71.

Friday, February 21

Listen for selections from February featured artists Marshall Crenshaw and The Wood Brothers.
