Plus more for the February ‘Beatle Jazz’ feature with jazz covers of Beatles tunes this time from Anthony Wilson, Lynne Arriale, John Scofield and Herbie Hancock – and also new music from Edward Simon, George Cables, Rene Marie, and the Pat Metheny Unity Group.

Tonight on the Night Train – the sound of ‘20s swing from the contemporary band, the Fat Babies; soul jazz from Organissimo and Dr. Lonnie Smith; Brazilian bassist Nilson Matta’s different take on the music of Black Orpheus, which helped introduce bossa nova music outside Brazil; a salute to Thelonious Monk from the Claire Daly Quintet; and classics from Joe Williams, Horace Silver and Lester Young.
