Tuesday, December 3
Big Band of Brothers: A Jazz Celebration of the Allman Brothers Band features new take on some of the legendary Georgia Band’s classics, including “Whipping Post” and “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.” We’ll hear music from that as well songs from The Cure’s album, Pornography.
Wednesday, December 4
Released in 1973, Quadrophenia is one of the best-loved albums from The Who and was later adapted into a film version which starred Sting. We’ll hear from that 1973 release on this episode as well as music from Jon Regen’s Higher Ground.
Thursday, December 5
Released in 1982, It’s Hard was supposed to be the final album from British rock band The Who. The group announced that it would retire from live performance at the end of its 1982 tour. Though primary songwriter Pete Townshend attempted to write one more Who album in the summer of 1983, he soon announced that he was leaving the group, ending the band’s initial run. The Who would reunite several times between 1985 and 1989, ultimately landing on a permanent reunion that goes on to this day with Townshend and vocalist Roger Daltrey the sole remaining original members. Listen for music from It’s Hard as well as songs from Townshend’s 1980 solo release, Empty Glass.

Saturday, December 7
We’ll hear selections from Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins, the 1994 LP from Sparks as well as music from Queen’s Jazz.
