Alligator Records – The First Five Years

Friday, May 14 and Sunday, May 16

Crossroads celebrates the 50th anniversary of Alligator Records throughout this month and this time will highlight the first five years of the label, with releases from Hound Dog Taylor, Big Walter Horton with Carey Bell, Son Seals, Fenton Robinson, and the first Grammy nominated album for the label from Koko Taylor. We’ll also hear more recent label titles from Nick Moss and Shemekia Copeland, and a special in hour two featuring an interview with label head Bruce Iglauer that was done for Alligator’s 40th anniversary.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
