International Jazz Day Celebration

Friday, April 30 and Sunday, May 2

Crossroads joins in with Global Village and Strange Currency to celebrate International Jazz Day. With the common roots their styles share, jazz and blues musicians have regularly blurred the lines between the two, resulting in some vibrant and stirring sounds. Crossroads explores the jazzy side of blues and the bluesy side of jazz with such legends as T-Bone Walker, Big Joe Turner, and Louis Jordan, and contemporary players like Duke Robillard, Ronnie Earl, Lucky Peterson and more.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
