August Featured Artists Johnny Winter And Robert Cray Plus Local/Regional Concerts

August 8/10

Crossroads kicks off the August feature remembering blues-rock guitar legend Johnny Winter, and celebrating the August birthday of blues star, Robert Cray. Highlights include the debut albums from both artists, music from Cray’s False Accusations album, and Johnny Winter live at Fillmore East. Then in hour two, it’s part one of a two part House of Blues special saluting Johnny Winter, with classic tracks and rare archival interview material (part two will air next week on the show).

Plus music from a number of artists with local and regional shows in the coming week, and new music from the Gregg Allman tribute, All My Friends, rising star Jarekus Singleton, the Chris Duarte Group, Brent Johnson, and local favorites, the Terry Quiett Band.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
