Sedgwick County lawmakers will hold a public forum Wednesday night in downtown Wichita. It’s an opportunity for residents to voice concerns and request action from the South Central Kansas Legislative Delegation.
State Rep. Gail Finney of Wichita says she expects the forum will include several topics, including the state budget, Medicaid expansion, mental health, school funding, Kansas Department of Transportation funding, medical marijuana and changes in sales tax.
"It is a great opportunity to have that face-to-face, one-on-one communication to speak to your south-central delegation legislators," Finney says. "All of us have been invited, and there’s over 50 of us that are part of this legislative delegation."
Residents can also weigh in on whether they prefer future forums online instead of in person. For Wednesday's forum, speakers should arrive early to fill out requests to address lawmakers. There will be about a 3-minute time limit.
The forum will be held Wednesday at the Sedgwick County Courthouse in the first-floor jury room in downtown Wichita at 7 p.m.
