Juneteenth week itinerary is as follows:

Friday, June 14 - Day of Service - Historic McAdams Park
Sponsored by Sherwin Williams
This year our service project is painting the Antione Carr Basketball Courts at the historic McAdam’s Park. Please join us as we make these courts the most colorful and exciting outdoor basketball courts in the City of Wichita!

Due to the size of this project, we will be working Friday, June 14 – Sunday, June 16 (9 am - 6 pm) at McAdam’s Park 1329 E 16th St N.

Saturday, June 15 - Fourth Annual Wichita Natural Hair Expo
The expo features educational workshops, local, national, and international vendors. In addition, the natural hair show component highlights local Wichita salons and provides a platform for local stylists to demonstrate their talents.
The Wichita Natural Hair Expo is designed to inspire and empower all participants. Stop by Noon to 5 pm at Wichita State University Eugene Hughes Metroplex (additional cost to attend). Learn more at www.wnhexpo.com.

This powerful evening kicks off at 6:00pm with spoken word, drumming circles, a history of Juneteenth as told by the Wichita/ South Central Kansas African American Council of Elders

At 7:15pm Juneteenth Keynote speaker, Rev. Dr. Michael W. Waters will deliver a timely message. Michael W. Waters is founding pastor of Joy Tabernacle African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church in Dallas, Texas. As pastor, professor, award-winning author, activist, and social commentator, Waters’ words of hope and empowerment inspire national and international audiences.

Friday, June 21 - Sounds of Juneteenth ICT - Historic McAdams Park Join us for a wonderful evening of spoken word, musical guests, great local foods and a first ever beer garden for Juneteenth.

Saturday, June 22 - Parade

Parade begins at 10:00am!
Begins at the intersection of 17th and Hillside just south of Wichita State University and heads west along 17th street all the way to the historic McAdams Park!
