A record number of people are losing jobs. Over the past seven weeks, over 33 million Americans have filed unemployment insurance claims. As states start to consider reopening, and people start returning to work, one problem looms over American families: child care costs.
In this installment of our series featuring the podcast Pandemic Economics, we’re discussing job losses and childcare concerns during the coronavirus crisis. We talk to host Tess Vigeland and economist Erik Hurst about all that and more.
This series is in partnership with the Becker Friedman Institute at the University of Chicago.
