Microsoft chief technology officer Kevin Scott grew up in Gladys, Virginia.
It was was once a thriving farm town. But advancements in technology, however, have created economic turmoil. For many of those who lost their jobs, technology of any kind is not a friend. But Scott believes A.I. actually has great potential to help places like Gladys.
“From where I sit, no one is telling the right story, a realistic story, about AI, which is neither utopian nor dystopian,” he writes in his new book, Reprogramming the American Dream: From Rural America to Silicon Valley – Making A.I. Serve Us All.
Scott hopes artificial intelligence could “create prosperity for us all, not just the privileged few.”
We ask him about how he thinks that could happen.
