Five-Letter Anagrams

Puzzle master Will Shortz quizzes one of our listeners, and has a challenge for everyone at home.

Challenge from Jan. 8: Name an American Indian tribe. Somewhere inside this name, phonetically, is a kind of tree. Remove this tree, close up the remaining letters, and the remainder, phonetically, will name another kind of tree. What Indian tribe is this... and what are the trees?

Answer: Cherokee and Cherry and Oak

Winner: Susan Raymond from Pawling, N.Y.

Challenge from Jan. 15: From Merl Reagle: Take the word carburetor, add two letters and rearrange the result to name another car part. And the answer is one word. What car part is it?
