Movie Review: Frankenweenie

Frankenweenie had several strikes against it before it even came on, so I consulted with no less than eight people about it after it ended, and must report that nobody, including me, rated it at less than three stars out of a possible four, with half giving it a maximum four.  I don’t like Tim Burton’s stop-motion puppets because they are either spherical heads with tiny pyramidal noses or grotesque but too traditional caricatures.  But you have to credit Frankenweenie with effective emotional expression whenever emotional expression is attempted.  But only the caricature

Recycling audio has allowed directors to more easily create the worlds of their films. Just like in life, the sounds that influence the mood of a moment are often out of sight, off screen.

Tallgrass Film Festival Celebrates 10 Years In Wichita Community

This month the Tallgrass Film Festival will celebrate 10 years in the community.

It all started back in 2003 when Tim Gruver left Los Angeles to return to his hometown and start a film festival. First step: assemble a team.

“We were really good friends and he called me up and said do you want to come to Wichita to produce this film festival and I was like, ‘I don’t know what that means, but OK, that sounds great,‘“ says Lela Meadow-Connor.
