Two top officials in Governor Sam Brownback's administration are preparing to make an announcement about the waiting list faced by hundreds of physically disabled Kansans seeking in-home services.

Lieutenant Governor Jeff Colyer and Aging and Disability Services Secretary Shawn Sullivan have planned a Statehouse news conference Monday. The administration didn't provide details before the event.

Advance Voting Ends Today, Election Day Is Tomorrow

In Sedgwick County, advance voting in person ends at noon Monday at the election office.

Tuesday - General Election Day - the polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Every voter must now show a photo ID when voting. Advance ballots must be in the Election Office by 7 p.m. tomorrow.

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback Tuesday signed into law a bill that will create jobs for Kansans with disabilities.

House Bill 2453 will give preference for state contracts to businesses that meet specific criteria, including employing at least 20 percent of full-time workers in Kansas with disabilities.

Companies must also do the majority of their business in Kansas and pay at least 75 percent of the total health insurance premium cost for their employees.
