A bishop for the United Methodist Church is asking elected officials to allow Syrian refugees into the country. Bishop Scott Jones, of the Great Plains Conference, says 35 congregations in Kansas and Nebraska are willing to sponsor Syrian families.

Governor Brownback signed an order barring state agencies from helping relocate Syrian refugees to Kansas. He says terrorists could come to the U.S. with the refugees.
Jones says security is important and church members believe the vetting process in place is appropriate.
