There’s a new way to dig into the details of Sedgwick County’s budget.
The county launched an interactive website called “Open Budget” this week. The platform breaks down the county’s revenues and expenditures and shows where the money comes from and how it is spent.
Commissioner Richard Ranzau says it’s a useful tool.
"It’s just another way to present the data in a web-based format, which I think is a lot more user-friendly that what we’ve had before," Ranzau says. "And it’s updated, as far as spending, on a weekly basis, so it’s much more up-to-date and accurate information as well."
An online version of the county’s budget and checkbook are also available on Sedgwick County’s website.
A companion web page called “SedgwickCounty Open Spending” lists payment information for nearly all county departments and offices. Information is broken down by department, vendor and expenditure, and can easily be searched.
