The big block party known as Open Streets ICT is back for its second go-round Sunday.
The event closes a four-mile stretch of Douglas Avenue to traffic, opening the street to biking, walking, dancing, food and more.
Open Streets ICT stretches from Bluff Street in College Hill to Glen Street in Delano. Wichitans are invited to stop at Douglas Avenue businesses, restaurants, food truck vendors and activity hubs along the way.
Matthew Martinez with Wichita Parks and Recreation, the event sponsor, said he hopes for an even larger turnout than last year.
"I am just excited to see more people,” Martinez said. “Last year there were 18,000 people. There were tons of people on their bikes.
"We were just in awe of just how many people in Wichita had bikes because you don't see that very often downtown."
One addition this year is the Q-Line. The free trams will travel between activity hubs.
Open Streets runs from noon until 5 p.m. Sunday. More information can be found at openstreetsict.com.
“(We want) people from all over Wichita to come down to downtown Wichita and just enjoy the day,” Martinez said.
