Monday, October 1

Building The Sun is the new album from Gooding. Produced by Matt Wallace (Faith No More, The Replacements), the album continues Gooding’s tradition of first-rate songs that walk the delicate balance between pop and rock. We’ll hear selections from that release as well as from Critical Equation, the latest by Dr. Dog. We’ll remember Jefferson Airplane co-founder Marty Balin, who died Friday at age 76.

Tuesday, October 2

Love Is Magic is the first album in three years from singer-songwriter John Grant and features the Michigan native’s usual flourishes of dark humor and reflections on love and masculinity. Listen for selections from this release as well as Prince’s Piano And A Microphone 1983.

Wednesday, October 3

Listen for selections from Bootlegger’s Choice, the latest from Southern Culture On The Skids as well as music from Split Lip Rayfield’s Never Make It Home.

Thursday, October 4

Billy Gibbons is a founding member of ZZ Top who steps out on his own for the album The Big Bad Blues (under the name Billy F. Gibbons). We’ll hear music from that record as well as from Paul Gilbert’s Behold: Electric Guitar.

Friday, October 5

It’s Our New Month, New Music feature: Before there was Drive-By Truckers, there was Adam’s House Cat, the band featuring Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley, who serve as the core writers in DBT. Adam’s House Cat was on its way to national acclaim and had recorded an album when the group abruptly broke up in 1990. The group’s recordings are available for the first time as Town Burned Down. We’ll hear selections from that release as well as music from Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit’s new effort, Live From The Ryman.

Saturday, October 6

An American Treasure is a new set featuring a variety of outtakes, live songs and hits from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. We’ll hear selections from it on this episode as well as music from Muse’s 2001 release, Origin Of Symmetry.

Monday, October 8
