The chairman of the Kansas Republican Party is resigning after six years on the job.
Kelly Arnold announced in a social media post Tuesday that he won’t seek a fourth term.
“I am very proud that the Kansas Republican Party’s next Chairman will take over an organization with cash in the bank and zero debt,” Arnold said in his statement.
“Federal Elections Commission records were maintained with full oversight and compliance, with every single report filed on time.” Arnold also said he “devoted considerable time and effort to reinvigorating [The Kansas GOP’s] communication efforts.”
Arnold has served on the Republican State Committee for more than 10 years. In 2013, then-Gov. Sam Brownback appointed Arnold as the Sedgwick County clerk.
Arnold made a bid for secretary of state this year, but was not successful.
A new GOP chairman will be selected in February at the party’s state convention.
