Night Train joins in with Global Village to mark the birthday of Bob Marley with jazz covers of his songs from Monty Alexander and Eliane Elias. It’s also the birthday of ace bassist Larry Grenadier and we’ll hear him with Brad Mehldau (on a Night Train favorite of 2018), Joshua Redman, John Scofield, and Charles Lloyd; and the birthday as well of guitarist John Pisano and we’ll hear him in duets with guitarists Phil Upchurch and Lee Ritenour. Plus music from the great Dorothy Ashby for the February Jazz Harp feature and the latest from former KC drummer and bandleader Matt Kane, singer Roseanna Vitro, and guitarist Gilad Hekselman.

Night Train highlights male jazz vocalists tonight – including vocalese pioneer Jon Hendricks and another vocalese master Mark Murphy, veterans Ernie Andrews and Andy Bey, rising stars Gregory Porter, Allan Harris, and Jose James, and beyond category – Bobby McFerrin.
