A Kansas man has been accused of falsifying the water quality reports he was required to send to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Arthur Wolfe, a former water system operator for Garden Plain, allegedly made false statements about the quality of the city's drinking water.
A federal indictment filed Thursday alleges in December 2017 and February 2018, Wolfe, who was responsible for collecting water from the city's community water system for testing, certified bacteriological reports containing falsified information. The indictment alleges water samples said to have been taken at four different locations in Garden Plain were actually taken from one location.

Garden Plain is located about 20 minutes west of Wichita. The community water system there provides drinking water to about 900 residents. The city is required to take a minimum of two samples per month for testing.
Recent water consumer confidence reportsfor Garden Plain show no contaminants were found.
Wolfe is charged with two counts of making false statements. He faces five years in federal prison and fine of up to $250,000 fine for each count.
