December 13, 2016 at The Monarch
Engage ICT’s last Democracy On Tap panel of 2016, held at the Monarch, looked at the impact of the year’s elections from political, social and artistic perspectives. With so much of the past year focused on politics, our panelists discussed where we go now.
Here's the recorded conversation:
Panelists for the event were Wichita State University political analyst Jeff Jarman, WSU sociologist Chase Billingham, WSU program coordinator for diversity and inclusion Danielle Johnson, and artist Armando Minjarez, who also co-founded the Wichita nonprofit The Seedhouse.
The discussion touched on the role artists still play in politics, what we can expect from a more moderate Kansas Legislature, and what the legacy of the Obama administration will be as we transition to a new president.
“There’s a lot of uncertainty,” Billingham said.
