Two names will be on the ballot for the 6th District seat on Wichita’s City Council, but only one candidate has been campaigning.

Wichita Park Board President Cindy Claycomb and community activist Sybil Strum are in the race for the District 6 seat in next week's general election.

But since filing as a candidate in April, Strum has largely been absent from any political events, and hasn’t filed any required expense reports with the Sedgwick County Election office.

According to the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission, Strum notified the agency that she no longer intends to campaign—though she missed the June 1 deadline to withdraw her name from the ballot.

KMUW wasn’t able to reach Strum for comment.

The district’s current representative, Vice Mayor Janet Miller, is leaving due to term limits. District 6 covers northwest Wichita, as well as Old Town and Delano.
