Sunday on Soulsations hear new music from talented singer/songwriter pianist, Avery*Sunshine. Her new album Twenty Sixty Four was inspired by her recent marriage to producer Dana Johnson who previously worked with soul artist, India Arie. Avery*Sunshine, an Atlanta-based singer, says she prayed to God asking, “If you could just give me until 2064 with this amazing man, I’ll be 89, he’ll be 91, and I would be so grateful."  She is currently on tour promoting her new release that includes such songs as "Come Do Nothing," "Kiss and Make it Better," and "Heaven is Right Here." 

Carla Eckels is Director of Organizational Culture at KMUW. She produces and hosts the R&B and gospel show Soulsations and brings stories of race and culture to The Range with the monthly segment In the Mix. Carla was inducted into The Kansas African American Museum's Trailblazers Hall of Fame in 2020 for her work in broadcast/journalism.
