Crossroads wraps up the old year and begins the new with two special shows.
In hour one, it’s the Ray Charles - Singular Genius: The Complete ABC Singles Special, documenting perhaps the most prolific period (1960-1972) in Charles’ career – and also among his most successful, when he scored 11 Number One hits, including “Hit the Road Jack,” “Busted,” “Georgia on My Mind,” “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Crying Time,” ” and many more. A new release featuring this material includes twenty-one songs that had never before been released on CD.
In hour two, we have a live performance from a contemporary artist steeped in the kind of classic rhythm and blues that Ray Charles helped create. It’s critically acclaimed U.K. guitarist and vocalist James Hunter and his band with their 2011 performance at the Savannah Music Festival.
