May 2009: World Guitars
This month Global Village features guitars from around the world. With its long history and compact, easily portable size, the guitar has become a popular instrument in almost every corner of the world. It has also been a key component in many distinctive musical styles, among them Hawaiian music, flamenco, electric African bands and more. Throughout the month, Global Village will highlight styles of music featuring the guitar and great guitarists from all over the world who have incorporated a host of different world music styles into their work.
