The Wichita Public Library will host two informational meetings about becoming a foster family Jan. 31 and Mar. 12.
The first session will be at the Westlink branch library and the second session will be at the Rockwell Branch.
The presentation, “Plenty of Love to Spare,” will feature Karen Lippolt from the Salvation Army talking about what is involved in becoming a foster family.
Julie Linneman, program and outreach manager for the Wichita Public Library says the program is for families who think they would be a good match for a foster program, or those who are still unsure.
“Karen will be there to share information about what is involved and how it works,” says Linneman. “And she is a foster recruiter, so for those who are ready to sign up, she will be able to tell them what the next step is to take.”
Linneman said the program seemed like a good fit for the library’s schedule of events since they are able to reach out to a lot of people and they are aware that there is a need for foster families in the Wichita area.
The Jan. 31 event begins at 7pm at the Westlink branch library, 8515 West Bekemeyer Street, Wichita, KS 67212.
The Mar. 12 event begins at 7pm at the Rockwell branch library, 5939 E 9th Street North, Wichita, KS 67208.
