Wichita Library Expands Winter Break Offerings
Thu, December 29, 2011
The Wichita Public Library has expanded its winter break offerings which include an additional day of free children’s activities Friday.
Special Projects Librarian Jennifer Heinicke says the library added one more day of activities this season due to the popularity of the programs. She says when school is out, parents are looking for activities that kids can do that are meaningful, and the library wants to be a resource for them.
Programs include craft making tomorrow morning at Wichita’s Alford Regional Branch Library and a Hot Cocoa Party tomorrow afternoon at Wichita’s Maya Angelou Northeast Branch Library, which already has a waiting list.
Heinicke says Wichita’s Rockwell Branch library will also host a free carnival at 2:30PM tomorrow afternoon, “it’s great for kids ages 3-11 and if Mom and Dad want to come along into the room and enjoy the games and activities, they are welcome to.”
“The great thing about this program is it’s available between 2:30 and 4PM but you’re just going to be out and about and want to jump in at 3 o’clock, that’s just fine, it’s a drop in activity.”
More information including a preview of spring break activities is on the library’s website at http://wichita.lib.ks.us
