A Wichita high school senior has won a four-year scholarship to Wichita State University.  KMUW’s Carla Eckels reports, the $44,000 dollar Barton Scholarship is the largest business scholarship in Kansas.

David Berry of Trinity Academy is the winner of WSU’s 2012-2013 Clay Barton Scholarship in Business. The senior will receive $11,000 dollars a year for four years. Berry participated in many activities at Trinity including swimming, performing in musicals, singing in choirs and serving as National Honor Society president. Berry was one of seven finalists for the scholarship.

To be eligible, high school seniors must have a 3.5 grade point average, a 24 on their ACT and be a declared business major. The Barton Scholarship was established 20 years ago in honor of the son of the late Rent-A-Center Chairman Emeritus W. Frank Barton, for whom Wichita State’s business school is named.
