The South Central Kansas Legislative Delegation will be hosting a public forum Tuesday evening in downtown Wichita.  KMUW’s Carla Eckels says public input is welcomed.

Participants will have the opportunity to express their ideas, concerns and requests to lawmakers from the area prior to the Kansas 2012 legislative session that begins in Topeka on Monday.

State Representative Gail Finney of Wichita says there’s a number of organizations that plan to raise issues that are important to them.

“You’ve got the League of Women of Voters, the NAACP a lot of organizations are coming out against that voter ID bill,” says Finney. “And then there’s going to be the education people, public financing of schools, school funding and we’ve got the medical marijuana people coming out as well. Those are the ones that I know that have been doing petitions and trying to get people lined up to pack the place.”

The meeting will be held in the jury room of the Sedgwick County Courthouse in Wichita Tuesday at 7pm. The public will be able enter the courthouse from the front entrance on Main Street.
