State emergency management officials are urging Kansans to prepare for an invasion of zombies. It’s part of a disaster readiness campaign.
October is Zombie Preparedness Month.
It’s a tongue-in-cheek campaign to get people nationwide to prepare for any type of disaster - by preparing for a zombie attack.
Devan Tucking is with the Kansas Division of Emergency Management. She says the zombie aspect is an eye-catcher, because preparing for that will prepare people for tornadoes, floods and even terrorist attacks.
“If you’re prepared for zombies, you’re prepared for anything the saying goes,” said Tucking. “It’s an all-hazards approach. You build a kit, make a plan, get informed. Learn CPR. Learn first aid. And you’re ready for anything, even zombies.”
Several events are planned in Topeka this month to raise awareness of the campaign.
