Kansas Preparedness Month

Thu, September 17, 2009

September is Kansas Preparedness Month, and some emergency responders are hoping Kansans will consider getting training to help them better react to an emergency. Cheryl Reitmeyer is the Kansas Citizen Corps coordinator. She helps organize emergency training in the state. Reitmeyer says Kansans often want to help in an emergency, but it's a good idea to get some training first.Reitmeyer says around 40 of the 105 counties have citizen response teams trained in areas like search and rescue and first aid. Training is free and provided through federal funding. Any Kansans wanting to get emergency training can go to http://www.citizencorps.gov SOURCE: KPR-Statehouse
