Healthy School Awards Program Accepting Applications

The Health and Wellness Coalition of Wichita has started accepting applications for the healthy school awards program.
The coalition will grant five awards in total, four to schools who submit a winning proposal for for expanding or implementing a simple idea that will have an impact on student health, and one award to a school that has already implemented programs that promote healthy eating and physical activity.
Sample ideas put forth by the health and wellness coalition include Wellness Wednesday, where students bring fruits and vegetables for lunch that earn them points towards outdoor equipment for recess.
The Healthy School Grant Awards are for $500, and the Healthy School Environment Award is for $1,000.
Wichita area schools are eligable to apply for grants in both categories, the deadline is March 16.
