If seeing the new year in with live music sounds like the thing, here’s a list of the major regional shows for the 31st.
Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy celebrate New Year’s Eve at Rock Island Live in Wichita.
Les Gilliam and his Silver Lake Band perform as part of the celebrations at Prairie Rose Chuckwagon Supper in Benton.
Two local favorites perform New Year’s Eve, but not here in town. Split Lip Rayfield is at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, and Moreland and Arbuckle play BBs Lawnside BBQ in Kansas City.
Oklahoma City hometown favorites, the Flaming Lips, return for their annual New Year’s Eve show along with the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band at Bricktown Events Center in Oklahoma City.
Blues fans have one of the best choices for the night with Gregg Allman and Buddy Guy appearing at the First Council Casino in Newkirk.
The Ramada in Topeka, home of the blues club Uncle Bo’s, is also hosting a New Year’s Eve bash with six bands, half blues (Nick Hern, Platinum Express and Lionel Young) and half Latin (Los Garcia Brothers, Grupo Picante and Tropical Azul).
Finally, jazz fans heading to Kansas City can catch the Guitar Summit with Will Matthews, Danny Embrey and Wayne Goins , along with special guest Stephanie Moore at the Blue Room.
