Book Review:

The Scarecrow by Michael Connelly

Author Michael Connelly was himself inspired by mystery and detective fiction master Raymond Chandler. After a stint as a crime beat reporter ? including a prestigious gig in Chandler's own haunts of Los Angeles ? Connelly finally turned his hand to fiction. His debut, The Black Echo, published in 1992, won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel. He followed with a whole series of best-selling titles, and is back now with his 20th book, another mystery set in L.A. that reunites some favorite characters. KMUW book critic Sarah Bagby has this review. You can hear Sarah Bagby's book reviews the second and fourth Mondays of every month on Morning Edition.
