Born in Bangladesh and based in Great Britain, novelist Monica Ali quickly became one of London's leading new literary lights. She was selected as one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists based on the manuscript of her first novel. That book, Brick Lane, was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and the British Book Awards Literary Fiction Award in the U.K., while garnering a National Book Critics Circle Award and Los Angeles Times 'First Fiction' prize in the U.S. Ali is back now with her third novel and KMUW book critic Sarah Bagby is back with her assessment.

You can hear Sarah Bagby's book reviews the second and fourth Mondays of every month on Morning Edition - or listen here and find additional information about the books and authors reviewed.
