August 9: Ninth Ward by Jewell Parker Rhodes

Next week sees the publication of Jewell Parker Rhodes’ new book, Ninth Ward. An author and educator, Rhodes is the Piper Endowed Chair for Creative Writing at Arizona State University. Her works have been published around the world, featured on Selected Shorts, and taken home a number of prestigious prizes, including the American Book Award, the National Endowment of the Arts Award in Fiction and two Arizona Book Awards. Now to a body of work that includes novels, writing guides, a play and a memoir, Rhodes adds her first book for young readers. KMUW book reviewer Sarah Bagby is here with more.

Sarah Bagby

Majority Owner, Sarah Bagby, has over 25 years of experience at Watermark Books. This year Sarah was appointed to the Board of Directors for the American Book Association, and is currently serving in the first of a three year term. She is a member of the Midwest Booksellers Association, which serves a 10-state region, and recently served as president of the association.
