Book Review:

August 23: Composed: A Memoir by Roseanne Cash

As the daughter of American music legend Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash could probably have had a successful music career without even trying. Instead she chose her own path, one with its own personal trials and where critical acclaim did not always translate into commercial success. But she proved a remarkable artist in her own right, and as pieces in the New York Times proved, a talented and thoughtful prose writer as well. She’s turned her pen now to a memoir and KMUW book reviewer Sarah Bagby reports on the results here.

You can hear Sarah Bagby’s book reviews the second and fourth Mondays of every month on Morning Edition – and find additional information about the books and authors reviewed here.

The young Rosanne Cash performs her father’s classic song, “Tennessee Flattop Box.”
