Freaks, floozies, and farces are all in this week’s At Play.
Wichita Community Theatre prepares the fourth show of its 66th season: the comic farce The 39 Steps by Patrick Barlow, familiar from its 1935 film adaptation by Alfred Hitchcock. The show will run January 26 through February 12.
Crow Uptown Dinner Theatre presents Steel Magnolias now through February 12. The 1987 play by Robert Harling was adapted for the screen in 1989. Since its off-Broadway debut the play has been performed all over the world, gaining special popularity in markets such as Sweden and Japan.
Mosley Street Melodrama will present The Dukes of Haysville or The Hazzards of Going Down South… of Wichita written by Tom Frye. The show opens on February 2nd and is paired with the Motown and More Musical Comedy Revue.
Cabaret Old Town kicks off 2012 with Jukebox: Dueling Divas with Angela Geer, Megan Parsley, Kay Brownlee, and Christi Moore, on February 10.
And something a little out of the ordinary comes to the Empire House Theatre at Old Cowtown on February 3rd and 4th with Dr. Dillinger’s Freaks and Floozies with High Heels and Red Noses, an evening of comedy, music, and more.
