This week Jedd Beaudoin launches a new bi-weekly theatre feature, At Play.
Music Theatre of Wichita rounds out its summer season with Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which began its run on August 5 and continues to the 14th. Music Theatre of Wichita is one of three groups in the country staging the post-Broadway production. The current run includes a special Saturday matinee on August 13 for children of three and four.
Wichita Community Theatre has just closed a run of Ken Ludwig’s Shakespeare In Hollywood but returns with David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer-prize winning Rabbit Hole September 7 – 11. The script was adapted by its author for 2010 film of the same name starring Nicole Kidman. This upcoming production is directed by WCT veteran Don Wineke.
The Tony Award-winning musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is remarkable for its incorporation of audience participation and musical numbers such as “My Friend, The Dictionary” and “I’m Not That Smart.” Cabaret Old Town’s production of this show continues now through August 20.
Mosley Street Melodrama has back-to-back laughs with Casino Roy-Al… or How I Bet Your Mother written by M.K. O’ Roark followed by the “Rockin’ Retro” Musical Comedy Revue. This production runs through September 3.
Finally Kechi Playhouse presents the murder and marriage comedy A Little Murder Never Hurt Any Body through August 28. Watch as a couple matches wits in a race for one half to stay alive until the dawn of a new year.
