An exciting new artist group is announcing their collective presence this Final Friday at The Diver Studio on South Commerce Street. They call themselves “The Ginger Rabbits.”

The members are: Curt Clonts, Linda K. Robinson, Beth Golay, David Murano, and Tanya Tandoc.

Yes, Tanya Tandoc is more than a recommender of local restaurants and maker of delicious food. She is also a ceramicist. And she joins David Murano an accomplished sculptor; newcomer on the scene and textile artist Beth Golay; and introspective photographer Linda K. Robinson. The fearless leader of this group is painter Curt Clonts. Clonts’ vision for the group was a pan-discipline collection of local artists with years of experience in their respective mediums – and that’s exactly what he got.

For their upcoming show “Out of the Hole,” each artist is presenting entirely new work. Tandoc will display a grouping of intimate, yet whimsical vessels made to fit perfectly in your hands. Sculptor David Murano submits new works in wood – a medium that he has returned to after many years of working solely in metal. Beth Golay debuts several fabric works that boast the precision and meticulousness that her medium demands. Robinson will hang a new series of photographs titled “Remembering 1968,” and Clonts offers up twenty new illustration works packed with humor and free-association.

If you’ve ever wondered what Wichita’s artistic identity is, “The Ginger Rabbits: Out of the Hole” provides a solid response. It is eclectic, skilled, and gives permission to play. With this multi-disciplinary show, we have a new major player in Wichita’s contemporary art scene by some of our cities finest artists.

“The Ginger Rabbits: Out of the Hole” opens October 28, 2011 7-10pm at The Diver Studio located at 424 Commerce St.  Wichita, KS 67202, (316)263-2323
