About KMUW: Testimonials

KMUW is very much a part of our lives. We trust what we hear on NPR’s news programs. We appreciate the humanity of story selection and special segments such as Story Corp and This I Believe. We also value the obvious respect we feel is directed to us by the assumption that we can think for ourselves, that we can listen critically to editorials without a filter…You are my friend.

I was working at the recycling center on Clark Street…and saw something I thought you’d enjoy. A couple pulled into a parking space, and two of us started forward to assist the patrons. They however, sat in their car, looking as if they were in no hurry. It wasn’t long before I realized what was happening. It was a “driveway” moment.” They were listening to Car Talk on KMUW, and wanted to stay right where they were so that they could listen. After the call ended, we got their materials unloaded, and they were on their way.

I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much I enjoy your Wednesday Music Roundup spots. I think they are very well written and enjoyable to hear. Thank you for doing such good work.
Note from KMUW: These are now offered online every Monday.

I think once we got started with it, we’d hate to be without it, that’s for sure. It’s our connection to what’s going on.

I was in my car driving from one meeting to another, but I listened attentively to the recordings and freshly-taped segments, and I wept…Thank you for reminding us of the man’s courage and the countless ways the events of his life and death have impacted this country.

I wanted to thank you for subscribing to The Diane Rehm Show. I love it. She is smart, sassy and “with it.” I love how she asked the right questions at the perfect time. Her guests and topics are wonderful. You are a wonderful public radio station!

I was sorry to hear recently that public television is in decline but thrilled to hear that at the same time public radio is on the rise. Great news. I’ll also report that my sister moved to Italy 26 years ago and for years her only complaint was not being able to get All Things Considered. Now even that is available by internet. Great job over there.

I drive from Derby to Ark City every morning and return every evening—I couldn’t do it without KMUW. I also travel in Europe and Asia quite a bit and listen to the simulcast from the website as often as I can. Thanks to everyone at KMUW.

I’d like to say how much I have enjoyed listening to New Settlers Radio Hour. The performers are always interesting and many have motivated me enough that I have purchased their music. I have attended live performances in Moundridge and I’m very impressed with the quality of recordings produced for your program. Thank you, and your engineers, for a great music listening experience.

You’re doing a great job…Your program and music selections are one of the things that make Wichita a very livable place. Keep it up!

Sometimes you don’t know how much you appreciate something until it is gone. Yesterday I drove to Topeka as I occasionally do for meetings. The stretch between Emporia and Topeka was so much longer as I missed KMUW. Thanks for the great lineup all day!

I’ve enjoyed Global Village so many times and will continue to listen. I’m blown away by the depth of your exposure and knowledge…and particularly appreciate how much info you impart to the listener to fill us in on what we’ve heard…You’re putting together a wonderful show and our general neighborhood is the better for it.

To meet listening standards, in recent years I have played high-interest stories from the NPR archives on the internet out loud so that my students may listen to them. Generally, they are timely stories that I have heard on my way to work during Morning Edition. My husband, a social studies teacher at Wilbur, used Story Corps as a successful writing model with his students last year. I’m sure there are other stories of teachers around your listening area who use KMUW’s offerings to make learning more authentic and enjoyable for students.
